Absolutely horrible! Esurance is a total joke, especially when you get into an accident.
Where to start… The website is the only user-friendly feature of the company. Easier to use than most other insurance websites (especially highly reputable ones), Esurance snags people in with instant quotes and instant policy. It actually takes a few business days to take effect, but it’s so easy. They are good at filing SR-22’s, but it seems to end there.
The real test of an insurance company is when you get into an accident. For this, Esurance gets an F-minus. When a drunk driver destroyed my car, I got someone on the line to report the accident, but I found that there were very few repair shops work with Esurance. Also, I gave the other party’s information to Esurance, but they seemed to be very slow in getting a hold of the other insurance company. Eventually, the insurance company got a hold of me, but it seems they got my information from the police report of the incident.
As for the settlement, they are real low-baller’s. They go way below fair market value and they also factor the insured’s deductible to give an insultingly low sum. I had to fight with Esurance quite a few times to get a better settlement (and these were the people who were supposed to be fighting for me). They only refunded the deductible when they actually settled with the DUI’s insurance company.
Subrogation - they seem ineffective in recovering the several hundred dollars I paid in out of pocket costs for the car rentals. It’s too early to tell, but I wonder if anything will materialize in the next 2 and a half years.
I just canceled my policy with them. They slapped me with a cancellation fee - how freaking stupid is this? $50 to cancel? Give me a break.
When they asked me why I was going over to another insurance agency, I tried to keep it positive. Since they insisted on pushing the questioning, I frankly told them I wanted to go with a better, more reputable insurance company.
They suck. I wouldn’t even tell my worst enemy to get insured by them.

I couldn’t agree more. I just cancelled my policy, or should I say attempted to… I called and they told me it was taken care of, I stressed that since their website will not allow me to remove my checking account info I wanted to be sure that they would not process the auto debit to my account. Ken assured me I wouldn’t be charged. Today I open my emails to find that they went ahead and renewed my policy and charged my debit card for almost $700.00. The rest of my family has had similar luck with Esurance. They subpoenaed one of esurance’s adjusters to appear in court and the SOB didn’t show and my little sister got stuck with a hit and run that she was not involved in. STAY AWAY FROM ESURANCE AT ALL COSTS!!!

You are so right about Esurance. They treat their customers bad as well as their employees.
I would encourage everyone to get their insurance else-where and close the damn company down.
Esurance can kiss my ass—- btw, they are in the middle of having an employee file a civil suit against them….. great press coverage yet again from the dumb-asses.

“It actually takes a few business days to take effect”
Wrong auto insurance law indicates that coverage is bound by payment, as soon as you pay you are coverd by the coverge that you have selected.
“I just canceled my policy with them. They slapped me with a cancellation fee - how freaking stupid is this? $50 to cancel? Give me a break.”
A cancelation fee for an insurance policy is par for the course, you agreed to this when you purchased the policy as part of the terms and conditons.
complaing about insurance is like complaing about laws, sucky insurance and sucky laws arentgoing to change. particularly if you are one dummy whinning about it

I signed on with e-surance on June 13th and then hit a deer on June 15th. It has now been 15 days and because I was a new customer I am getting the run around on from them paying my claim. It is a joke. I have called a thousand times. They had us talk to a special investigator. I had coverage effective June 13 therefore pay the claim!

Any insurance that wants me to pay for coverage for my 16 year old sister who doesn’t have her driver’s license and doesn’t live with me and certainly does not drive my car (we even gave e-surance the proof they asked for) is insane in my opinion!
